Viendo lo que grabaron/Watching what they shot

Dia 4

Hoy nos levantamos temprano y nos juntamos a desayunar como todas las mañanas. Unos ricos huevos, fruta y un buen cafe para arrancar las actividades con mucha energia.

Apenas fueron llegando los chicos se pusieron a ayudar a Fer y Abraham que estaban retocando los titeres.

Una vez que llego el resto del grupo empezamos con el calentamiento corporal dado por Vicky.

Terminado el calentamiento empezamos a improvisar con los titeres.

Fer estuvo a cargo y les explico a los niños como manejarlos, moverlos, como interactuar con ellos.

Se los noto timidos pero ya despues se fueron animando.

Fue muy interesante ver como se sintieron mas comodos hablando en su idioma natal, el maya. Mas sueltos, sin tanta pena de hablar. Con el español les cuesta un poquito mas. Es cuestion de tiempo, de que se sientan seguros y de que tengan el coraje y el valor para hacerlo. Dia a dia vamos trabajando en eso.

Improvisaron historias con el titere Rey y el titere Gringo.

Una vez finalizada la improvisacion se les dio la tarea de que escriban un dialogo entre el Rey y el Gringo.

Con la ayuda de los guias fueron armando esos dialogos.

Se tomaron su media hora de receso y ya devuelta en sus actividades llego el turno de la meditacion dado por mi. Un poco de musica tranquila, de que se relajen y a continuar.

Edel y Sebas se encargaron de la parte visual.

Los chicos vieron como se pueden hacer camaras fotograficas con latas de refresco. Se les explico el proceso y se les mostro el cuarto oscuro que es donde las revelaran (en este caso, el cuarto oscuro lo hicimos en el baño de hombres del Centro Comunitario)

Luego con Sebas empezaron a escribir un corto. Nos divimos en 3 equipos. La idea fue escribir las historias a traves de las 3 C.

En las 3 historias que se escribieron se usaron el coraje y la compasion.

Mientras unos escribian, otros iban experimentando con las camaras que hay aqui en el Centro Comunitario para que ellos mismos realicen el corto que se hara en el Cenote Lol – Ha.

Terminada esta tarea nos fuimos a la Plaza Principal de Yaxunah a que jueguen y aprendan a usar las camaras.

Mientras unos corrian y se subian a los arboles otros iban grabando.

Se vio que las niñas del grupo tienen un buen manejo de la camara y les gusta. Fue emocionante ver como gritaban “Accion!” cuando estaban por empezar a grabar una toma.

Luego de la Plaza volvimos al Centro y Sebas les explico un poco acerca de la edicion.

Para ese entonces ya estaban dispersos y no prestaban tanta atencion.

Fue ahi cuando Fer les hizo dar cuenta de que aprovechen esta oportunidad que estan teniendo, que no todos los dias llegan Artistas – Maestros a Yaxunah y que aprendan todo lo que puedan para que asi puedan desenvolverse mejor en su vida cotidiana, que sean como esponjas, que absorban, que pregunten.

El dia de hoy fue muy positivo y estoy feliz de poder participar en este hermoso proyecto.

Day 4

Today we woke up early and got together to have breakfast just like every morning. We had delicious eggs, fruit and good coffee to start the day energized.

Little by little the kids started to arrive and they were helping Fer and Abraham putting the last touches in some of the puppets. Once the rest of the group arrived we started with a body warm up led by Vicky.

Once we finished the body warm up we started improvising with the puppets.  Fer led and explain to the kids how to manipulate the puppets and how to interact with them.

They were a bit shy but after a while they started to feel more comfortable.

It was very interesting how they feel more comfortable in their first language, Mayan.

They are more loose, not so shy. In Spanish is a bit harder.  It takes time for them to feel confident and it takes courage to do it. Day by day we work on this.

They improvised stories using the King puppet and the “gringo” puppet.

Once they were done with the improvisations they were given the task of writing a script, with the helped of the guides they started building the dialogs.

They had half an hour recess and went back to the camp.  Meditation was to follow and it was led by me.  I played a bit of calm music so that they can relax and keep going on their day.

Edel and Sebas were in charge of the visual arts.  The kids saw that they can make pinhole cameras with soda cans. Edel showed them the process and the dark room that was built in the guys washroom.

After the kids started writing a short film with Sebas.  We split in 3 team.  The idea is to write a stories about the the 3Cs (Compassion, Creativity and Courage).  While some were writing others were experimenting with the cameras that they have here in the centre, so that they can use them to make the short film that will take place in the Cenote Lol-Ha. 

After they finished this task we went to the Main Plaza in Yaxunah so that they can play with the cameras. While some of them were running and climbing trees others were filming them. The girls of the group are very into using the cameras and are really focused.

It was very exciting for me to see the kids said “Action!” When they were ready to film.

After shooting in the Main Plaza we went back to the Cultural Community Centre and Sebas explained a bit about editing.

In that moment they were dispersed and were not paying a lot of attention. 

This is when Fer reminded them to take advantage of our presence here, not everyday artists come to pass on knowledge.  They can use all the skills that are learning here to use them in their regular lives.

Today was a very positive day and I am very happy to be able to participate in this beautiful project.
